Very sorry to read this

Mr Paterson was one of my teachers probably from about 1972-1977. I remember him well as a teacher who made all things seem like fun and would always see the good in a bad situation. I did a couple of Norfolk Broads boating holidays that were run by 'Sir' and still remember the day he fell in and then laughed. I discovered this tribute by accident, and a part of me wishes I had'nt,
Condolences to his family

A star that will always shine bright

A wonderful and caring man who I and so many will certainly miss - Chris was there from the very start of my marshalling career with kind words and humour to guide me and other trainees alike. I will always remember your smile and I can only aspire to be half the Marshal and person you were.
God bless you.

A man of great integrity.

We met in race control at Brands Hatch some 30 years ago
and his friendship with myself and my family developed beyond motor racing, into realms of education, family standards and laterly religion. His glass of wine was always waiting for him when he popped in after marshalling and I know he will leave a massive gap in so many peoples lives.
Firmly believing in the after life , there is no need to say goodbye, from time to time we will all feel him around us.

A true loss

I first met Chris in my early teens whilst working at Brands Hatch. Over the years he also became a friend of my mother's, husband's and latterly my son's when he introduced him to Kart Camp. Attempting to summarise Chris in a few words is close to impossible. He was caring, intelligent, compassionate and had great integrity. I am pleased that he came into my, and my family's, lives - a positive influence. I will remember fondly the time we spent together. My thoughts and very best wishes are with his family.

So Sorry

I have very fond memories of Mr Paterson from Alleyn Court, he was my Scripture teacher.I had holidays to West Runton, The Norfolk Broads and a trip on the Uganda and will never forget the enthusiam he instilled in all of us. I still have a passion for camping holidays.I also remember his silver Escort Mexico and him giving me a lift home to Leigh in the rain after i had spent my bus fare on sweets, of all the teachers I had he was a sure favourite, I only found this website and tribute by accident, it was a great shock to read this but the many tributes pay great testimony to him.Condolences to Family and Friends on your great loss.

Our love and our prayers are with Maggie as we hold Chris in our hearts before our Loving Lord. Our heavenly Father welcomes Chris into his arms of unending Love as we thank Him for all that Chris gave of himself to his family and to us all.

More than he'd realise...

My own experience of Chris was perhaps not particularly close but perhaps that's all the more revealing about the influence he had on all those who came into contact with him.

I am very grateful for the wisdom imparted upon me (both accepted and rejected) at an earlier age. His humility was such that you had to find out about his many gifts and abilities through those who knew him better.
I shall never forget the slow, considered answers he would provide to questions which I often thought would buy him time to come up with a genuinely good answer!
My thoughts go out to Maggie and his family... and to who on earth can be found to fill the many roles he filled for the generations to come.

An inspirational leader.

Chris was an inspiration. He was a very humble leader and a servant of all. He always had time to listen. He was a great encourager. He seemed to know God in such a natural way. And yet he combined this with great fun. I remember groaning at his jokes and also his motor racing stories (from when Lotus was a team!). I learnt a lot! I feel privilidged to follow after him.

Love and sincere condolences to Maggie and his family.

A very special person

You touched everyone you met with your honesty, integrity and your humanity. What a shame there are so few people like you in our modern world. To those of us who have been able to count you as our friend, what a privilege it has been, a privilege which we shall never forget and for which we shall always be both the richer and very grateful.
